FLORIDA INSTITUTE OF SPORTS VISION

Looking to improve your game? As sports vision specialists, we strive to improve the visual abilities of athletes and help them achieve their peak athletic performance.

What is Sports Vision?

Vision care for athletes starts with identifying visual factors that can influence peak athletic performance. In addition to thorough comprehensive eye exams, athletes often need an evaluation of visual motor and visual perceptual skills. These skills can vary depending on the specific spots and the individual’s role.

By identifying any weaknesses in these areas, athletes can enhance not only these visual skills but also their perormance in their sport.

Performance Vision Training

A comprehensive eye exam can reveal underlying health conditions that you may not be aware of.

Concussion Care

Concussions are a significant international public health concern, yet the methods currently used for their detection are manual and subjective.

Vision Therapy

Vision therapy, a type of physical therapy for the eyes and brain, is a highly effective non-surgical treatment for many common visual problems.

FAU — Performance and Safety

“The importance of having eye exams or at least just a base vision evaluation is to make sure that the guys are seeing everything that they need to on the field, not just to perform at their best, but also to stay safe. So we’re checking to make sure that they have great visual acuity, also that they can see well up close, since they’re also student athletes. We’re checking their depth perception, and then we’re taking some important concussion baselines.”

“Your biggest muscle as a goalie is your eyes. I do a lot of visual training in my pregame routine to warm up my eyes and keep them sharp. If you’re not seeing it, nothing else matters. Your eyes are the basis of your whole game.”
