Emergency Eye Care

When an eye emergency arises but you don’t need the ER, you need urgent eye care. Our emergency optometrists in Pembroke Pines are here to assist you in these situations.

Emergency Eye Care

Sometimes an eye problem arises that needs more immediate attention but doesn’t require a trip to the emergency room. In these situations, our emergency optometrists are here to help you address these unexpected situations and find solutions.

What Warrants Emergency Eye Care?

If you are experiencing eye issues or sudden vision problems, it is important to get help right away. While emergency rooms are reserved for serious dangers, our urgent eye care can help you address less pressing problems that still need more immediate attention.

Problems that require urgent eye care can range from mild discomfort to more severe pain but often get worse over time. For this reason, it is always better to make an appointment sooner rather than later with one of our emergency eye doctors.

You should schedule an emergency eye care appointment with us right away if you are experiencing the following symptoms:

  • Sudden vision changes such as blurriness, double vision, or vision loss
  • Red, itchy, and irritated eyes that don’t get better
  • A constant burning or stinging sensation in your eyes
  • Bleeding, bruising, or discharge around the eyes
  • Abnormal eye movement from one or both eyes
  • Increased sensitivity to light

These symptoms may be the signs of an infection, eye disease, or structural damage. You should seek emergency eye care attention immediately and avoid touching your eyes to keep the problems from getting worse.

Our Emergency Eye Care Services

While we’re not open 24/7, if you need emergency eye care, we will do our best to fit you in as soon as possible. To begin, we will conduct an eye exam to try and diagnose the problem. Depending on your eye emergency, you may only need a few tests or the problem may require further examination with a series of specialized tests so we can understand your exact situation.

Once we have a diagnosis, the next step is providing recommendations for care.  Some urgent eye care issues can be solved quickly while others may require longer-lasting treatment plans or more involved treatment like eye surgery. We will discuss your options with you to help understand your care needs and the next steps for a safe and speedy recovery.

If you think you may need urgent eye care, do not wait to contact our office. At The Eye Center, we want to help.
