Can dry eye cause blurry vision?

Dry eye is a fairly common cause of blurry vision. The reason lies in the anatomy of the eye and the fact that your tear film acts almost like the windshield on your car. Your tears should provide enough smooth cushion for a clear surface without excess debris or oil. Each time you blink it’s like turning on the windshield wipers. After you blink, your tears should coat the front surface of the eye for 10 seconds or more. In dry eye, the tear film can evaporate as quickly as one to two seconds, leaving a non-uniform surface for the light to enter the eye and resulting in blurry vision.

Can dry eye cause headaches?

While it’s possible, dry eye does not typically cause a headache unless it’s extreme dry eye. There is a common link however between headaches induced by a high amount of up-close work such as on a computer or a screen and dry eye.
